Self-Service Options to Protect Your Accounts

In today’s digital age, banking has become more convenient than ever, thanks to the spread of online and mobile banking services. However, with this convenience comes the responsibility of safeguarding your accounts from potential threats and fraud. Utilizing self-service options offered by your credit union is an effective way to bolster your account’s security. We’re here to help you explore the various self-service options we offer that can help protect your accounts and keep your financial information safe.

Multi-Factor Authentication

One of the most critical self-service options you can enable is multi-factor authentication (MFA). MFA requires you to enter a time-sensitive code before allowing you to complete a login attempt. When logging into Digital Banking, after you enter your unique login ID and password, you may be prompted to select a phone number to receive a Secure Access Code (SAC). The SAC is a 6-digit code that will be sent to one of the registered phone numbers we have on file for your Robins Financial account. This code can be delivered via text message to your mobile device or you can receive a phone call which will recite out the code for you. By activating MFA, you can significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access to your account.

Card Controls

With our free Robins Financial cards app, you can take the protection of your Robins Financial debit and credit cards into your own hands. Through this app, you can set alerts based on transaction amounts and transaction types such as card not present, international, gas stations, ATM withdrawals, and more. You also have the power to turn your cards on and off. For instance, if you happen to misplace your card, you can immediately log into our app and disable it. Then if you find your missing card, you can easily turn it back on. These features provide you with greater control over your card’s usage and can prevent unauthorized transactions.

Creating and Updating Login Credentials

Self-service options for creating and updating your login credentials are crucial for protecting your accounts. The login credentials you use for Digital Banking should always be unique and different from the usernames and passwords used for any other site. We recommend using a combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters. Security experts recommend updating these credentials every 30-90 days. Regularly changing your usernames and passwords helps limit your exposure to online attacks brought on by hacked and leaked credentials.

The Bottom Line

Protecting your accounts is a shared responsibility between you and your credit union. By utilizing self-service options, you can play an active role in safeguarding your financial information. Investing time in securing your accounts today can save you from potential headaches and financial losses in the future.
